Faith Can Move Mountains

Just having a little fun in the scraproom this morning with MOJO Monday sketch #312.  Faith can move Mountains.  If only we have a little faith the size of a mustard seed. I remember taking a jar of mustard seeds to my Sunday School class in an attempt to give a visionary lesson.  I wish I would have written down their comments, but one of them still remain with me.  He said, "Wow, right now I have a little faith and when I get big I can do anything!"

God's beauty

This card was inspired by Scrapping Everyday Miracles.  I've been eyeing their sketch and trying to find the die cut to use and this morning I went straight to my stamps.  I don't use them enough so I grabbed the Hero Art Butterflies and Inches stamps.  I looked at the inks, shuck my head and gazed over at the watercolor pencils.  I just wanted to try something different and capture God's beauty.  I had update my card, because their twist is to add some string/fiber.

This is how they were colored before I added on the sentiment and embellishments!

Don't you see God's beauty?  I might do these again in fall colors as He changes the season.
Thanks for visiting!

Good Times Series

Over at Scraps of Color, Robert Jackson is having a Good Times Relay Challenge.  You had to complete each actor before the deadline with the requested challenge to continue with the next one.  John Amos is our last actor, known on the sitcom as James Evans.  The challenge for this card was to use twine and metal.  The design was inspired by Tuesday Morning Sketches #217.
Recipe:
Websters's Pages - paper
Making Memories - sticky mesh, brads
Michael's buttons & hemp cord
Bic Mark-it makers
Stampin up sentiment and punch
We started off with the mother, Florida Evans.  Challenge :  Use the sentiment "Good Times" on our project.
This is Wilhona and Penny.  Challenge: Use bling or pearls
The children Thelma, JJ "Kid Dynomite" and Michael.  Challenge: Square card and add a button.
Bookman known as Buffalo Butt on the show.  Challenge:  Color the image and anything goes
It was a great relay and I enjoyed the images.  I'm still watching Good Times reruns.  It's great to see how well they have done in their careers and even those who overcame their challenges.

Twist of Faith Card Challenges

I'm excited to announce my first post as a Design Team member for Twist of Faith.  Let's get Sketchy is our challenge this week and I hope you join us.  Bugaboo Stamps is the sponsor and I chose 'Wee One Boy Angel'.  You can win 'Seven' digital images!  It's something about a rainbow that makes me burst out with creativity.  While visiting Hawaii, a rainbow was  an everyday occurence so I get excited whenever I use a rainbow theme.  I selected ink from the various colors of the rainbow and inked on glossy paper diagonally as my background.  I used strips of ribbon as my banners and matted them with white card stock.  I took a Stampin Up cloud embossing folder and cut them out accenting with stickles.  My cute little digi is colored with Bic-Mark it markers, Spectrum Noir, glossy accents and stickles.  The sentiment by Studio g was inked with various colors also.  Sure hope I've brighten your day!

Don't forget the twist is this sketch

and the card must be uplifting, healing, inspirational, and/or scriptural card.  Hope to see your card in our challenge.  Be sure to stop by and check out the other Design Team members take on the sketch!

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.  III John 2

Altered Paint Brush

Hello
Wanted to post my Altered Paint Brush I made for my Scrappy friend Jacqueline Rosemond over at Scraps Of Color hosted by Mary Joyce.   The theme was wild animals or floral.  She requested something soft or pastels and this is my creation.  An ATC was attached with a digital vintage lady. Can't remember where I got her from.  I added stickles on her dress.  I put Gesso on the brush and added gold pearl and crystal stickles.  Doilies were added on both sides.

My first diaper cake with a tutorial

I took a break from card making for something crafty I've been wanting to make for a while....A diaper cake!  My first diaper project was for my nephew, a diaper motorcycle cake here that I posted last month.  One of my co-workers asked me for  assistance with party favors and decorations for a baby shower she was hosting for a friend.  On her list was a diaper project.  I took photos as I went along to provide a tutorial.  This is the final presentation....King of the Jungle!  We fell in the love with the monkey that plays music!
Crafty supplies:
Sizzix crown die cut
DCWV The Green Tea Stack
Americana White wash acrylic paint
Anita's Island blue acrylic paint
Mod Podge

We recycled a box from work and I used my large Creative Memories circle cutter to cut the cardboard to be placed at the bottom and colored it with a mixture of  island blue and  white wash acrylic paint to coat the top and bottom of the cake prop.  A small coat of Mod Podge was added after it dried.
I placed a doily on the top of it at first.  Thought it was a lovely presentation, but you'll see later it was all about the diapers so it was eventually removed.
I started with a paper towel roll and wrapped a diaper around it.  I single wrapped a few others and then I wrapped the entire diaper around to make it smooth.
The diapers were covered with a blanket.  It looks like a cake in a bundt pan huh?!
The Creative Memories circle cutting tools really came in handy.  I cut another circle yet smaller and cut a hole in the center to build another layer.

After wrapping the blanket around I realized it was not enough diapers.  I love how the presentation looked with the doily, but as I stated before it's all about the diapers so I removed the doily, took the blanket off, added more diapers and this is how it came out.  You need various size rubber bands.  That is how they are standing so strong together.
Here you see the blankets wrapped around the cake. Time for the third layer!
It's an animal or jungle theme so I chose the papersack confetti and added to each layer.
I placed two inch chocolate ribbon around each layer. Remember this was my first so I didn't know how to adhere it.  A paperclip was temporarily placed to keep it together.  I thought about putting a thin 1 inch ribbon on the two inch ribbon, but it looked a bit too busy.
Instead three polka dots two inch ribbon were tied into bows and placed a strip of brown around the inside to bring out the color.  A long stem of fall leaves were entered inside at the top.  See below.

This was my final product after adding the monkey.  Some monkey ribbon was tied to his neck.

I took him to work for my co-worker to make sure she was satisfied.   To fine tune it I tucked the confetti or grass into the diapers a bit more.  Pacifiers and note markers were left from my brother's shower so I added them and I put the bows together with hot glue and pearl pins.  Can you see the blue pacifiers in front of the bows?  I was excited about the details.  I know it seems a bit busy, but I was going after the jungle theme.  It's one thing missing and hope you noticed up front.  Something crafty.  Did you find it?  Compare this one with the top finale!

Thank you for stopping by!  Hope the tutorial was helpful.  I'm opened to any suggestions since this was my first one.  Stay tuned for more crafty projects to come!

Time to travel

I have several friends who have retired and I needed to make a few cards.  Spectrum Noir has a travel challenge going on.  I love to color with the teal family.  It's something about the calm and soothing feel.  I took out my DCWV Travel and Garden paper stacks I've been hoarding.   Oh to retire, be on my own time, and travel whenever...looking forward to it!

Happy Anniversary

Hello Blog friends
It's my godsisters anniversary coming up.  Although her colors were purple & sage I went with  yellow and gray.  I went to Ace Appliance to pick up a paint brush for a swap and went by the color swatches.  I saw 'Happily ever after' as a color and that's were my inspiration came from. Of course I didn't just get one so the guy at check out said $10 for the swatches.  I looked at him and laughed.  I said, "So you know it's not for painting huh"?  He said, "Yes, you scrapbook right"? LOL  I said the secret is out!  They know me at Home Depot and now Ace.  That was the funniest moment and he said I made his day.

Paper Crafters in the Making!

I had the pleasure of a Scrapbooking date for my two sweet play nieces Kaleb and Jaiden.  I originally scheduled for three hours, but they completed their mini albums in two hours!   Jaiden said she loved arts and crafts.  It was proven in their mini. I just wished I could have taken photos of the inside.  It's a flip album and there were flips everywhere filled with photos and journaling and all kinds of cuteness.  Aren't they adorable?!

They started off VERY serious. I wish I would have jotted down the comments...They were funny!

The first project was to do name titles using shapes and letters. Proud girls!

Since pink and purple were the chosen colors. I gave them my dress favors that I altered some time ago to recycle and this was their idea....to use them with a photo of their face. How creative?!!!

They chose it as their back cover.
DOUBLE the FUN!!!

Now Kaleb is ready for the next date!

Thanks for stopping by.

I went to celebrate my Scrappin Sister Debra bring in 50 last night, but couldn't  sleep when I returned home so off to my scraproom I went!  I'm definitely enjoying my 50's and loving life.  Kurt Carr's song 'I've Seen Him Do It'  has been ministering in my heart all week so this was my inspiration for this pop card.  I had praise worship all by myself at home!! I know God CAN do the impossible.  I've Seen Him Do It!
